History
Gamajun Games was founded in 2012, Located in Brno, Czech Republic when group of industry veterans decided to go independent. The decision was driven by simple vision, to be able to create games that would reflect view of the team on game development. As years have passed, fresh talent was acquired in order to create a unique mixture of enormous experience and new talent so in the end we could focus on only one thing that matters to us making great games!
Gamajun Games is a spin-off of Illusion Softworks and Vatra studio who created and worked on Silent Hill Downpour, Mafia 1 and 2 and Hidden and Dangerous series.
2012
The studio Vatra Games was founded in 2008 (although 2009 is often mentioned). After the acquisition of Illusion Softworks in 2008, a very unfortunate decision was made - the cancellation of the Moscow Rhapsody project. As a result, a group of developers decided to leave and try their luck under a different banner. In the beginning there were three musketeers - Andy Pang, Alexander Sila and Mike Cox. The fourth musketeer arrived a year later - Matthew Seymour, who helped develop the studio's business. Vatra worked on Silent Hill Downpour and Rush'N Attack as part of the KUJU development family. Unfortunately, the latter decided to shut down the studio in 2012 amidst the exodus of gamers from consoles to mobile platforms.
1999
The names change, the team remains. After the closure of Vatra Games, a core group of developers stayed together to form a new entity, Gamajun Games. Gamajun is the Old Slavic angel of wisdom and has been carrying us on its wings since 2012. Once again, a foursome of people were behind the creation of the studio - this time it was Alexander Sila, Jan Sedlacek, Mike Cox and Dave Hawkins. But the studio would not have been possible without the support of the whole team and leaders such as Lukasz Ziolkowski, Ludek Migdal and Martin Hebert. The current team is a mix of original veterans and new members who bring the passion of young blood to the team. Thanks to everyone who has stuck with us and helped us along the way!
2008
Illusion Softworks represents the beginning of serious game development in the Czech Republic. The studio was founded in 1997, eight years after the fall of the communist regime. The two founders - Petr Vochozka and Jan Kudera - created the first large group of talented developers in the Czech Republic. Many of today's studios draw on the experience of the generation of seniors who came from the Illusion Softworks team that produced games such as Mafia, Hidden & and Dangerous and Chameleon.
